Old Guy Hockey Return?

April 8, 2016

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve put out a blog post on OGH. I almost visited the rink on Tuesday morning to try out skating but I woke up real early (3:30) not feeling to good.    So hopefully  in the next few weeks I’ll be trying out the new knee on the ice. Since my recovery has been going well and I haven’t been playing hockey in the…

What the Puck

just want to say As we get to the end of the season , we all know anything can happen with the playoff run. I’m amazed how consistent Washington  has been all year long. They are definitely the ones to beat in the east. Boston is creeping back into play and the other favorites of coarse Tampa, NY and Florida. It should be a fun end of the season…

Knee Replacement Rehab Going Well

Well it’s been just about 11 weeks since my knee replacement and things are going good! I can walk well and climb stairs without assistance. If you didn’t know I had the knee replacement you couldn’t tell by my walking. Overall I’m happy with the recovery and progress. I am still having a bout with Insomnia but it seems to be getting better slowly. I have reduced PT to once…

Tuesday Morning Hockey

March 1, 2016

It’s been a few months since I’ve seen the inside of rink. So I decided to head over to Cyclones Arena in Hudson, NH to visit the guys.     Everyone is doing great and the locker room banter hasn’t changed . For those of you who still play hockey or used to play , you know exactly what locker room banter is all about! Didn’t recognize Nev without…

How’s everybody doing. It’s officially been eight weeks since my knee surgery. I’ve been walking pretty good for the last week or so and today’s the last day of the cane. That’s the custom cane thanks to Bob Coco.     Even though I can hobble around without assistance, I have to say for the last 4 weeks the cane has been quite a conversation piece! As I’ve written in a…

PT today with a Twist that really made me think

I had PT this morning and after a very grueling but encouraging session I found out my Leg extensions are good. My angles are great …. from a sitting position I’m at 115 degrees (really good … going for 130) and because of my knee issues over the years this is a real good#. My knee was so messed up I don’t think I had 105 degrees before surgery…. SWEET!…

Like my new cane

January 26, 2016

Thanks again to Bob Coco at No Icing Sports for letting me borrow this custom Old Guy Hockey cane!    Today, after my grueling hour and a half session of PT ,  I feel comfortable going from one crutch to the custom cane.  Thank you  to Keith and Matt at Performance Physical Therapy for taking good care of me and pushing me along! Who knows maybe by week 6 I’ll…
